According to reports, citing the Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission, Singapore has received its first data breach notice related to artificial intelligence. Earlier, a food company accidentally revealed the customer's email address when sending mass emails. “Mei Zhenxiang”, a well-known local producer of dried Chinese pork, reported to the committee that the incident occurred in April of this year. At the time, an employee wrote a program using generative AI tools to send emails in batches to a local mailing list. However, the employee failed to instruct the program to hide their email addresses from other customers. According to reports, this is the first time that the company is using AI tools in everyday business operations. Two days after the incident occurred, the company reported it to the Commission. As a result of this leak, the email addresses of more than 95,000 customers were made public. The Commission stated that no personal data other than email was affected, and the leaked information was not managed, processed, or generated by any AI-driven operation or process.
