Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) has announced a definitive agreement to acquire World Labs, an AI research entity led by Dr. Fei-Fei Li. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance AMD's capabilities in developing AI hardware, software, and systems as AI technology evolves into areas like reasoning and robotics. By integrating World Labs' expertise in advanced AI models, AMD seeks to shape future technology roadmaps and bolster its position in providing infrastructure for an open AI ecosystem. The all-stock transaction valued at approximately $8.2 billion is expected to conclude by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.

Elsewhere in the market, GlobalWafers (TPEX:6488) was trading firmly up 9.5% and finishing the session at NT$1,035.00. Meanwhile, VeriSilicon Microelectronics (Shanghai) (SHSE:688521) lagged, down 11.3% to end the day at CN¥171.68.
