05:50 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Greggs (GRG.L) plans to shut four manufacturing sites as part of a strategy to consolidate production operations, potentially resulting in 740 job cuts over two and a half years. The British baker chain said Wednesday the proposals follow a review of its manufacturing operations as it invests in capacity to support at least 3,500 shops. The changes remain subject to consultation with trade unions and employee representatives. Greggs expects the restructuring to involve a cost of 60 million pounds sterling in cash, including 40 million pounds of capital expenditure, as well as disruption costs and redundancy payments. Once completed, the program is expected to generate annual pre-tax operating cash savings of 20 million pounds, with the benefits to be realized across fiscal 2028 and 2029.
