According to a statement from India's Ministry of Electricity, the Indian government has issued a new corporate average fuel economy standard for passenger cars, with the goal of improving fuel consumption by 16.7% by March 2032. According to the new regulations, the fuel consumption benchmark will be tightened from 3.996 liters/100 km in the 2027-28 fiscal year to 3.3273 liters/100 km in the 2031-32 fiscal year. The reference vehicle weight under the new regulations increased by about 13.6% from 1,082 kg to 1,229 kg. This provision will take effect on April 1, 2027 and will continue to apply until March 31, 2032.
