The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Tuesday, Oracle (ORCL.US) had a rapid intraday rise of more than 8%. As of press release, it had risen nearly 7% to 141.80 US dollars. According to the news, on September 29, intelligent data infrastructure vendors NetApp and Oracle announced a new fully managed storage service to implement enterprise-grade NetApp storage natively in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure OCI. The service brings NetApp ONTAP data management capabilities natively into the OCI environment to help enterprises simplify the migration and management of critical AI and business workloads in the cloud. The OCI NetApp storage service is scheduled to be fully launched within the next 12 months.
OCI NetApp Storage Service is an OCI native fully managed storage service that introduces the full suite of NetApp ONTAP data management capabilities to OCI. Enterprises can use this service to complete the migration, operation, security protection and architecture modernization of databases, enterprise applications, virtualized environments, electronic design automation/high-performance computing (EDA/HPC), strong supervision services, and AI data pipelines, and can follow the original familiar storage operation and maintenance model.
Pravjit Tiwana, senior vice president and general manager of NetApp Cloud Storage and Services, said, “Customers want to move AI and enterprise businesses to the cloud without sacrificing ease of operation and maintenance, data management capabilities, and reliability. OCI NetApp storage services provide users with an authentic OCI cloud experience while using ONTAP's proven capabilities for data protection, migration, compliance governance, and multi-protocol access.”
Customers can manage this suite of OCI NetApp storage services through the OCI console, software development kit, ONTAP application interface, and legacy operations and maintenance workflows. As an OCI native service, it helps customers migrate their existing ONTAP-based business to the cloud to minimize application restructuring and storage management changes. For core business scenarios in large-scale, heavily regulated industries, OCI NetApp storage services extend this mature set of storage capabilities to OCI to achieve consistent data management, high availability, security capabilities, and predictable performance in local and cloud environments.
Konstantinos (kp) Papamiltiadis, senior vice president of Oracle's cloud infrastructure partnerships, said, “To move to the cloud, there is no need to demolish and rebuild an entire data infrastructure. OCI NetApp storage services provide customers with a trusted and familiar path to the cloud, allowing enterprises to focus on the business value of the data itself rather than spend effort dealing with underlying storage management.”
Alvaro Celis, NetApp's senior vice president and chief commercial and partner ecosystem leader, said, “By launching ONTAP-based native storage services at OCI, we are combining the scale and performance advantages of OCI with NetApp's enterprise data capabilities to enable customers to run a variety of core business workloads. “This collaboration brings real value to highly regulated industries, making it easier for companies to migrate, modernize, and protect critical business applications on OCI.”
