People familiar with the matter revealed that since April of this year, ByteDance Bean Bag has begun closed testing of products in the direction of personal assistants. According to information, the exploration project was called “Spell,” and it was mainly led by the Doubao mobile assistant team, but due to reasons such as the release of Doubao Mobile, it has never been officially launched. Recently, after personal assistant products such as Muse and Instinct received attention and a large number of downloads overseas, Doubao is also speeding up the release of personal agent capabilities to the public, and plans to further integrate the previous Spell project with Doubao products. The new product will be jointly managed by the Spell Project and the Doubao dialogue team, and it is expected to be launched to the public soon. Spell and the new Doubao assistant products can be seen as Doubao extending the personal agent capabilities accumulated on mobile phones to independent application forms.
