It is proposed to include implant products such as titanium-zirconium alloys that have been used clinically in recent years, and multi-dental implant bases with high clinical demand in the scope of procurement. The procurement was guided by the National Health Insurance Administration, led by the Sichuan Provincial Health Insurance Administration and the Shaanxi Provincial Health Insurance Administration, and all allied provinces participated. Li Dewei, director of the Sichuan Provincial Health Insurance Administration, explained that procurement will further improve collection rules, optimize supporting services, adhere to unified services on the same platform, and simultaneously provide services such as online reporting of dental implant systems and orthodontic consumables through the Sichuan procurement platform. Currently, related work such as formulating procurement plans and preparing reports is being carried out in an orderly manner. In 2023, 31 provinces across the country carried out special treatment of medical service charges and consumables for dental implants, and implemented comprehensive management of charges for dental implant medical services, first-round implant collection, and crown bidding. The average cost of a single dental implant was reduced from 15,000 yuan to about 7,000 yuan. According to reports, up to now, the collection of dental implant systems has covered 18,000 medical institutions, and the number of dental implant surgery services in public hospitals nationwide has increased from 210,000 in 2022 to 890,000 in 2025, with a total of 3.47 million implant systems purchased.
