German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies will officially open a semiconductor factory in Thailand on October 1. The project will invest more than 48 billion baht to help Thailand build a more advanced local chip industry. The Investment Commission of Thailand issued a press release on Friday evening saying that the investment covers power module manufacturing, semiconductor testing, and an R&D center. The Thai plant will manufacture power modules for electric vehicles, energy systems, and data centers. The project is expected to employ more than 5,000 local Thai employees.
