Meta VR hardware expansion benefits Unity (U.US)! The “seller” logic heats up, and the profit inflection point is yet to be verified by financial reports

The Zhitong Finance App noticed that, boosted by Meta's release of next-generation VR and AI hardware on Meta Connect 2026, the stock price of game engine company Unity Software (U.US) rose more than 3% before the market, and stood above $45.

Zuckerberg's “personal superintelligence” hardware combo

The two-day Meta Connect 2026 will take place from September 23 to 24. On the first day, Meta CEO Zuckerberg released a series of VR, AI, and wearable devices, including the new Meta VR Glasses and various new Ray-Ban smart glasses, and systematically explained the company's “personal superintelligence” (personal superintelligence) strategy. The next day's agenda will focus on the developer ecosystem, including SDK updates and technical sessions.

The direct link between hardware release and Unity is that every time Meta sells an immersive device, it needs more content to fill it, and the tools to produce this content are largely in Unity's hands.

Unity's three-tier monetization logic

The basic disk authorized by the engine. Unity's partnership with Meta has been around for a long time. In April of this year, the two sides renewed a multi-year platform support and enterprise cooperation agreement. Unity continues to support Meta's VR platform, and developers develop games and commercial applications for Meta devices based on Unity tools. Unity revealed at the time that most of the best-selling VR games on the Meta platform were powered by the Unity engine. This means that every expansion in Meta's hardware installation will directly increase the developer base and subscription revenue of the Unity Create business.

Deep binding for AI toolchains. Technological integration between the two sides is still increasing. Meta's XR Unity MCP Extension allows developers to invoke AI agents (AI agents) to create and modify Meta VR scenes directly within the Unity editor. This tool embeds AI content generation capabilities into Unity's workflow, further lowering the threshold for VR content creation — the easier it is to create, the more developers, the more “taxes” on the engine.

Ecological flywheel. The essential logic of market trading is a positive cycle: more meta devices → larger user pool → more developers entering the market → more immersive applications → higher engine usage intensity. On this link, Unity plays the role of a typical “seller”, and its revenue elasticity depends on how quickly the Meta hardware ecosystem expands, rather than the success or failure of a single device.

The profit inflection point is the core of the bullish view

According to data from 32 institutions compiled by MarketWatch, Unity's current average rating is “buy,” with an average target price of $50.32, up to $64, and a minimum of $40.

Since August, Benchmark and HSBC have successively raised the stock's ratings; Citibank analyst Jason Bazinet raised the target price from $40 to $48 on August 10 and maintained a “buy”; UBS and Piper Sandler also maintained their existing ratings.

Analysts agree that Unity's earnings per share will be -0.69 dollars in fiscal 2026, but this will be corrected to $1.09 in fiscal 2027. The company's second-quarter EPS was -0.05 dollars, better than market expectations of -0.11 dollars; the next report card will be revealed on November 11. Fundamental improvements combined with business slimming down, including shutting down the IronSource ad network in April and divesting the Supersonic mobile game distribution business in August. These will further focus resources on the high-margin Create business and the AI-driven Vector advertising platform.

The third quarter earnings report saw the real chapter

However, some market observers pointed out that with a market capitalization of about $183 billion, which corresponds to a free cash flow of about $5.4 billion, Unity's valuation is not cheap, and the market sales ratio is about 9 times.

This premium only holds true under the premise that Vector AI advertising platforms expand in volume and profit margins substantially expand. Furthermore, Unity has some dependency on platform partners, and transmission logic may be weakened if Meta adjusts developer policies or hardware shipments fall short of expectations.

The single-day increase of nearly 5% in itself is also more a reflection of event-driven sentiment, yet to be verified in the subsequent financial report released on November 1 (3rd quarter of FY2026).
