India has cut import tariffs on crude palm oil and crude soybean oil in half to calm domestic prices before the holiday season. Tariffs on crude palm oil and crude soybean oil were reduced from 10% to 5%, while tariffs on unrefined sunflower oil were abolished. Sudhakar Desai, chairman of the Indian Vegetable Oil Producers Association, said that the adjusted tariff framework may enhance the competitiveness of sunflower oil.
