Vow Insiders Enjoying kr3.4m Appreciation On kr5.53m Investment

Simply Wall St · 1d ago

Last week, Vow ASA (OB:VOW) insiders, who had purchased shares in the previous 12 months were rewarded handsomely. The shares increased by 20% last week, resulting in a kr142m increase in the company's market worth, implying a 61% gain on their initial purchase. In other words, the original kr5.53m purchase is now worth kr8.90m.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Vow Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Chief Financial Officer Cecilie Margrethe Hekneby bought kr3.2m worth of shares at a price of kr1.68 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of kr2.97. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

While Vow insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Our data indicates that Vow insiders own about kr59m worth of shares (which is 6.9% of the company). We do note, however, it is possible insiders have an indirect interest through a private company or other corporate structure. Overall, this level of ownership isn't that impressive, but it's certainly better than nothing!

What Might The Insider Transactions At Vow Tell Us?

The fact that there have been no Vow insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. However, our analysis of transactions over the last year is heartening. Overall we don't see anything to make us think Vow insiders are doubting the company, and they do own shares. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. For example, Vow has 2 warning signs (and 1 which can't be ignored) we think you should know about.

For the purposes of this article, insiders are those individuals who report their transactions to the relevant regulatory body. We currently account for open market transactions and private dispositions of direct interests only, but not derivative transactions or indirect interests.
