According to Omdia's latest data, global shipments of AI glasses reached 4.2 million units in the first half of 2026, an increase of 127% over the previous year.

Omdia analyst Qiran Ju said, “The AI glasses market grew in the first half of 2026, thanks on the one hand to Meta's continued market popularity, and on the other hand, it was driven by a large number of new Chinese manufacturers.

Another key point is that major manufacturers use the form of everyday glasses as carriers, focusing on functions such as hands-free photo and video shooting, open ear audio, and AI assistants, so that the value of the product can be intuitively perceived by consumers.”

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to the “Global Smart Glasses Market Tracking Report” released by Counterpoint Research, global AI glasses (including screenless AI glasses and AR/AI glasses) shipments increased 263% year-on-year in the first half of 2026.

Screen-less AI glasses, which are less expensive and weigh less, continue to dominate, accounting for 96% of total shipments. Looking ahead, the AI glasses market will maintain strong growth, and the next stage of growth will be driven by smart glasses.

Peter Richardson, vice president of research at Counterpoint Research, said that the competitive pattern in the global AI glasses market remained basically unchanged, and Meta further consolidated its dominant position in the first half of the year, accounting for about 94% of global shipments. In the field of screenless AI glasses, Meta and EssilorLuxottica have adopted a more aggressive expansion strategy to drive growth in emerging markets in North America, Western Europe, Latin America, India and Asia Pacific.

Fangzheng Securities released a research report saying that AI glasses are currently more suitable for finding individual stock opportunities from the bottom up, rather than simply betting on the overall beta market in the sector. The bank believes that the industry is still in the consumer-side introduction period, and there is a time lag in implementing the performance of related companies. It is recommended that targets be screened along the two logical lines of restructuring the consumer scenario and implementing AI hardware, focusing on companies that have supply chain, channel, cost control, product power and execution capabilities, and can generate revenue and shipment fulfillment.
