SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- rabbit, a pioneer in consumer-level agentic AI, today announced the general release of OS3, an agentic operating system. Built around a single chat interface as its primary entry point, OS3 changes how people work with their devices. A user states an outcome, and the system works out the rest by reasoning with connected AI models and whatever else the task calls for: the web, services already in use, or connected devices.
OS3 runs in the cloud, but connects to and operates devices through the rabbit agent, which installs with a single command. One account can be connected to up to five devices, and OS3 determines where each task runs (on a single device, or across several), moving work between them as the task requires, along with pulling any needed files, applications, and skills.
One Identity Across Every Screen
The entirety of OS3 is built upon a unified user identity that puts an end to isolated accounts and fragmented chat threads, enabling:
- Multi-Device Orchestration: Instead of forcing users to choose between performing a task on a local PC, cloud VM, or dedicated AI computer, OS3 determines the optimal device (or combination of devices) automatically before executing.
- One Continuous Conversation: With OS3, there is no session list or individual threads to manage, and in their place is a single, linear conversation. OS3 keeps track of past outputs and recalls what the user has told it before, all while continually working in the background.
Powerful and Open, By Design
OS3 is open at every layer that matters: the model it runs on, the skills it can use, and the devices it can reach. This flexibility unlocks:
- "Bring Your Own Key" Flexibility: Users can power OS3 interchangeably with API keys from the latest models of frontier AI labs, cloud router platforms or locally hosted models. Users can also swap models without affecting context, memory, or skills.
- Universal Skill Compatibility: Every skill, published anywhere, is now something that OS3 can do. Just copy the skill's URL, paste it into the chat, and OS3 will set it up without requiring command line prompts or additional configuration files.
- Direct Computer Control & Autonomous Coding: OS3 fuses the capabilities of an LLM with the power of coding and personal agents. Using rabbit's DLAM technology in conjunction with a local agent, OS3 can operate desktop software, local files, and web pages directly on a user's behalf, in addition to writing, debugging, and running software workflows autonomously.

OS3 can act on a user's behalf, but this control doesn't come at the expense of data privacy or security. Instead, OS3 protects users' data by:
- Only Accessing Files Locally: The rabbit agent runs locally on your machine and does not copy, store, use, or sell your data. As with any cloud-based assistant, your conversations with OS3 and the memory built from them are stored on rabbit's servers, but the files on your computer are not.
- Handling Context through the Model Provider: OS3 carries out tasks by sending relevant content to a connected model provider of the user's choice, which then handles the data under its own terms. Before this handoff occurs, the data is first processed through rabbit's servers, along with any prompts needed to complete the task. rabbit does not keep a copy of this data, and the files themselves remain on your computer.
- Only Taking User-Initiated Actions: OS3 acts in response to your instructions and does not run tasks on its own. Sensitive actions require your confirmation, and system-level permissions are requested locally by the operating system. Users can also revoke permission at any time.

Availability and Roadmap
Today, users can get started by visiting os3.rabbit.tech via desktop to log in or create a rabbit account, and finish onboarding in a single conversation. Then, they can talk to OS3 through the web portal on desktop or mobile, a paired Telegram, iMessage/RCS/SMS, or with rabbit's own r1. Additional input methods are coming soon.
On the other side, any device running the local rabbit agent can be controlled by OS3: Windows, Mac, or Linux local PCs, cloud VMs, dedicated AI machines, and the r1 today, with more device types to follow. rabbit's upcoming cyberdeck will also ship with OS3 as its default operating system.
