Meta, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI to Face UK Parliamentary Committee Amid AI Safety Concerns

11:14 AM EDT, 09/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- A committee of the UK parliament invited Meta Platforms (FB2A.F), Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI to appear at an evidence session on artificial intelligence security amid growing concerns regarding safety. The Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Committee also invited the British government's AI Security Institute to take part in the session, as the committee works on the country's economic strategy for AI, according to a Tuesday release. The technology companies will be asked about whether they accept mandatory reporting of serious safety incidents and whether safety testing should become obligatory, among other questions.
