We wouldn't blame Zscaler, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZS) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Kevin Rubin, the Chief Financial Officer recently netted about US$1.1m selling shares at an average price of US$193. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 43%, which is notable but not too bad.

Zscaler Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Chief Legal Officer & Secretary, Robert Schlossman, sold US$2.1m worth of shares at a price of US$307 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$207. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.

Insiders in Zscaler didn't buy any shares in the last year. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does Zscaler Boast High Insider Ownership?

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It's great to see that Zscaler insiders own 35% of the company, worth about US$11b. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
