National lottery sales in August 2026

I. National lottery ticket sales

In August, the country sold a total of 63.985 billion yuan of lottery tickets, an increase of 10.584 billion yuan over the previous year, an increase of 19.8%. Mainly, the Soccer World Cup continues to drive lottery ticket sales. Among them, welfare lottery agencies sold 15.809 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1,465 billion yuan, a decrease of 8.5%; sports lottery agencies sold 48.176 billion yuan, an increase of 12.049 billion yuan over the previous year, an increase of 33.4%.

In January-August, the country sold a total of 478.431 billion yuan of lottery tickets, an increase of 55.226 billion yuan over the previous year, an increase of 13.0%. Among them, welfare lottery agencies sold 131,529 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 10.782 billion yuan, a decrease of 7.6%; sports lottery agencies sold 346.901 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66.09 billion yuan, an increase of 23.5%.

II. Sales of lottery tickets by type

In August, digital lottery ticket sales were 14.982 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%; lottery ticket sales were 36.810 billion yuan, an increase of 12.899 billion yuan, an increase of 53.9%; that is, sales of open lottery tickets were 8.765 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1,956 billion yuan, a decrease of 18.2%; Keno lottery sales were 3.428 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 298 million yuan, a decrease of 8.0%. In August, digital lotto, quiz, instant, and keno lottery sales accounted for 23.4%, 57.5%, 13.7%, and 5.4% of total lottery ticket sales, respectively. Video lottery sales amounted to RMB 0.005.3 billion, an increase of RMB 0.002.3 billion over the same period last year.

In January-August, cumulative sales of digital lotto tickets were 115.101 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.493 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.8%; sales of lottery tickets were 25.543 billion yuan, an increase of 70.459 billion yuan, an increase of 37.9%; sales of instant lottery tickets were 81,845 billion yuan, a decrease of 7.804 billion yuan, a decrease of 8.7%; and sales of Keno lottery tickets were 24.937 billion yuan, a decrease of 10.5%. In January-August, digital lotto, quiz, instant, and keno lottery sales accounted for 24.1%, 53.6%, 17.1%, and 5.2% of total lottery ticket sales, respectively. Video lottery sales were 0.041 million yuan, an increase of 0.027.9 billion yuan over the previous year.

III. Lottery ticket sales by region

In August, compared with the same period last year, lottery ticket sales in all 31 provinces across the country achieved positive growth. Among them, Henan, Shandong, Zhejiang, and Guangdong increased significantly, with year-on-year increases of 1.16 billion yuan, 1.06 billion yuan, 820 million yuan and 780 million yuan, respectively.

In January-August, compared with the same period last year, with the exception of Chongqing, lottery ticket sales in 30 other provinces across the country all achieved positive growth. Among them, Guangdong, Shandong, Henan, and Zhejiang increased significantly, with year-on-year increases of 4.59 billion yuan, 4.57 billion yuan, 4.54 billion yuan, and 4.07 billion yuan, respectively.
