National Energy Administration: Electricity traded in the national electricity market increased 19.2% year-on-year from January to August

The Zhitong Finance App learned that data from the National Energy Administration shows that in August 2026, various electricity trading agencies across the country completed 754.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity transactions, an increase of 15.2% over the previous year. Looking at the scope of transactions, the amount of electricity traded within the province was 563.8 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 16.0% over the previous year; the amount of electricity traded across provinces and regions was 191 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 11.4% over the previous year. In terms of trading types, the medium- to long-term electricity trading volume is 681.9 billion kilowatt-hours; spot trading electricity volume is 72.9 billion kilowatt-hours. Green power traded 26.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 7.7% over the previous year. The market-based agents of power grid companies purchased 78.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

From January to August 2026, electricity trading agencies across the country completed a total of 5180 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity transactions, an increase of 19.2% over the previous year. Looking at the scope of transactions, the amount of electricity traded within the province was 4026.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 21.5% over the previous year; the amount of electricity traded across provinces and regions was 1153.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 12.1% over the previous year. In terms of trading types, the medium- to long-term electricity trading volume is 4617.3 billion kilowatt-hours; spot trading electricity volume is 562.7 billion kilowatt-hours. Green electricity transactions amounted to 218.2 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 6.1% over the previous year. The market-based agents of power grid companies purchased 563.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
