QUICK SPARK: Legal AI Startup Harvey Hires Chief Research Officer From Microsoft

Legal AI startup Harvey has hired Adam Sadovsky as its chief research officer, bringing in an AI executive with senior research and engineering experience at Microsoft AI and Google DeepMind.

Sadovsky joins Harvey after serving as a corporate vice president of AI at Microsoft, where he led post-training for MAI-Thinking-1, according to a post on X. Before that, he was a distinguished software engineer and senior director at Google DeepMind, where he worked on the Gemini engineering leadership team and led efforts spanning large language model post-training, capabilities, tooling, and infrastructure.

Sadovsky spent more than 17 years at Google, working across Gemini, Google Assistant, Search Quality and Search Infrastructure, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The hire comes shortly after Harvey raised $550 million at a $15.5 billion valuation, more than tripling its customer base since March. The company said the funding will support efforts to help law firms, corporate legal teams, and professional services firms build and deploy AI capabilities at scale.

Harvey has also expanded beyond its core legal market. Earlier this year, the company acquired Benchmark, a New York-based decision-infrastructure platform focused on helping asset managers capture and apply institutional investment knowledge.

Founded in 2022, Harvey develops generative AI tools for research, drafting and analysis and has increasingly targeted financial services firms, including private equity and asset management.
