The facility will become the company's global battery R&D and production center, covering material development, cell design, and prototyping. Panasonic Energy said that the Energy Innovation Plaza will collaborate with the Suminoe Production and Development Center in Osaka to accelerate the development and mass production of next-generation batteries for automobiles and data centers, and promote related technology and manufacturing processes to factories in Japan and Nevada, Kansas, etc. The new facility has about 500 employees, a total of about 800 people with the Suminoe Production and Development Center. The company aims to double development efficiency compared to FY2024 and shorten R&D and transport-related cycles by more than 15% by FY2031.
