The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Lee Ka-chiu, announced today the “First Five-Year Plan for the Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”. Li Jiachao said that in the next five years, along with “simple public housing,” the total number of public housing units built in Hong Kong will reach about 196,000. As the overall number of public housing units built continues to increase, the “comprehensive waiting time for public housing” will drop to 4.5 in 2026-2027, and is expected to drop further below 4 years in 2030-2031.
