On the 15th, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area variable speed pumping energy storage project — the upper and lower reservoirs of the Langjiang River Pumping Power Station in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, started water storage at the same time, pushing the construction of the project into the sprint stage. After sufficient water storage, the power plant can convert 1.12 million cubic meters of water energy into 1.2 million kilowatts of clean electricity per hour, meeting the daily electricity needs of about 200,000 Greater Bay Area residents. Currently, installation of domestic variable speed pumping units is being stepped up. Other conventional fixed speed units have already entered the commissioning stage. It is expected that the first power plant unit will be put into operation to generate electricity before the end of the year.
