Recently, according to market sources, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is studying incorporating GEM and the Main Board into the same framework by adding a new section to the “Main Board Listing Rules”. Relevant discussions involve the possibility of adding Chapter 18D, which may also become part of the next stage of the listing system review. In response to media inquiries, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange said that the first phase of the review of the competitiveness of the listing framework has been implemented and will continue to study more measures to enhance the attractiveness of the listing mechanism and announce relevant developments in due course. Up to now, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has not announced the official plan for merging GEM into the main board, the text of the 18D rules, or the migration arrangements for existing GEM companies. Hong Kong Legislative Council member Li Weihong told reporters that the market hopes that GEM will play a greater role, especially providing financing channels for smaller companies that have not yet met the main board listing requirements, increase GEM's transaction volume and financing scale, and improve its liquidity.
