According to a statement, the European Commission approved 61 billion euros to meet Ukraine's defense needs in the fields of anti-aircraft defense, ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare. The funds will support the procurement of defense products from EU companies and local Ukrainian companies. The funding also allows Ukraine to purchase PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, with two exemptions for US-made equipment, including procurement through the PURL mechanism coordinated by NATO. The funding comes from a €90 billion Ukrainian-backed loan. Following this approval, the €28.3 billion funding for Ukraine's 2026 defense support has now been fully allocated. The European Commission has disbursed 8.35 billion euros of defense funds to Ukraine this year, and more funds will be “soon” disbursed.
