The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers today released automobile production and sales data for August. According to the latest data, NEVs account for a new high of monthly sales. In August, NEV production and sales reached 1.653 million units and 1,643 million units respectively, up 18.9% and 17.8%, respectively. Sales of new energy vehicles reached 60.6% of total sales of new vehicles. In terms of exports, in August, China exported 1.01 million vehicles, an increase of 65.3% over the previous year. The monthly export volume exceeded 1 million vehicles for 3 consecutive months. Among them, 526,000 new energy vehicles were exported, an increase of 1.3 times over the previous year. In terms of export structure, NEV exports have accounted for more than 50% of total automobile exports for three consecutive months. Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, explained that NEV exports accounted for more than 50% for three consecutive months, which meant that for every two cars exported, one was a NEV. This fundamental change in the export structure shows that China's automobile exports are switching to “led by new energy vehicles” and are opening up the global market through electrification technology routes.
