Memphis, Tennessee-based AutoZone, Inc. (AZO) operates as a retailer and distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories in the United States and internationally. The company has a market cap of $48.7 billion and offers a product line for cars, sport utility vehicles, vans, and light-duty trucks, including new and remanufactured automotive hard parts and more.

Companies with a market cap of $10 billion or more are typically called “large-cap stocks.” AZO fits squarely into that category, with a market cap above this threshold that reflects its substantial size and influence in the auto parts industry.

However, the stock currently trades 32.4% below its 52-week high of $4,388.11 recorded on Sept. 11, 2025. AZO has declined 3.6% over the past three months, underperforming the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLYmarginal decline during the same time frame.

In the longer term, AZO has delivered a similar performance. The stock has fallen 30.1% over the past 52 weeks, lagging behind the 2.9% fall of XLY over the same period. AZO has been trading below its 200-day moving average since March and also below its 50-day moving average since August, indicating bearish momentum.

On May 26, AZO stock declined 9% following the release of its mixed Q3 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the quarter amounted to $4.8 billion, missing the Street’s estimates. Moreover, its adjusted EPS came in at $38.07, which surpassed Wall Street’s estimates.

When stacked against its rival, Genuine Parts Company (GPC) has declined 3.4% over the past year, outpacing AZO.

Despite its underperformance, Wall Street has a highly bullish view of the stock currently. Among the 27 analysts tracking AZO, the overall consensus stands at a “Strong Buy.” Its mean price target of $3,935.96 offers a 32.4% upside potential from current prices.
