05:46 AM EDT, 09/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- UniCredit (UCG.MI) Chief Executive Officer Andrea Orcel and the minister-president of the German state of Hesse, Boris Rhein, met Thursday to discuss conditions for the Italian lender's planned takeover of Commerzbank (CBK.F), Bloomberg News reported Friday. Rhein requested that the German bank remain listed and permanently headquartered in Frankfurt, the largest city in Hesse, as well as keep its name, brand and corporate banking business following a potential integration with UniCredit's HypoVereinsbank, according to a source cited by the news agency. UniCredit did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
