At the “2026 World Power Battery Conference” held today, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Equipment Industry Development Center released the “Power Battery Industry Development Index”. Qu Guochun, director of the Equipment Industry Development Center, explained that with the hierarchical adaptation of multiple technology routes in the power battery industry, next-generation batteries are being implemented at an accelerated pace. In the short term, liquid lithium batteries are still the main product, and performance continues to be iterated; in the medium term, the three-line parallel pattern of “liquid lithium battery+sodium battery+semi-solid battery” continues to evolve, sodium-ion batteries will replace part of the low-end lithium battery market, and after the commercialization of semi-solid batteries is fully implemented, they will become an upgrade plan for middle and high-end models; in the long run, the popularity of all-solid-state batteries depends on cost control in the industrial chain. With the continuous maturity of manufacturing processes and a significant decline in materials and manufacturing costs, all-solid-state batteries have the basic conditions to penetrate the mid-range model market.
