Recently, the Central Internet Information Office organized the second phase of the “Clean Up and Remediate AI Application Chaos” project, focusing on outstanding issues such as using AI to create and publish false information, spread violent and vulgar content, counterfeiting others, and infringing on the rights and interests of minors, and deployed local Internet information departments to further advance key remediation tasks, urge website platforms to centrally clean up all kinds of illegal and bad information generated by AI, and investigate and punish illegal accounts and mobile applications in accordance with the law to effectively curb the chaos of AI-generated synthetic information content and promote the healthy and orderly development of AI application services. Up to now, more than 5.61 million pieces of illegal information have been cleaned up, more than 49,000 accounts have been investigated and punished, and more than 2,400 illegal websites and apps have been disposed of. In the next step, on the basis of summarizing the results of the special action, the Internet Information Department will further grasp the development trends and rules of artificial intelligence, pay close attention to the new situation and risks of AI generated synthetic content, take timely and effective measures to prevent the misuse of AI technology, and continue to create a favorable environment for artificial intelligence innovation and development.
