08:04 AM EDT, 08/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google is changing how it enforces its site reputation policy in the European Economic Area following discussions with the European Commission, according to a Friday release. Starting Aug. 30, manual search ranking penalties under the site reputation abuse policy will no longer apply to users within the EEA region. The enforcement mechanism will remain active across markets outside the European Economic Area, Google said. Google launched the site reputation policy in 2024 to prevent third-party content from being published on trusted websites to exploit their reputation and rank higher in search results.
