The China Steel Association said that in July 2026, the total energy consumption of member companies decreased by 6.48% year on year; the comprehensive energy consumption of ton steel increased by 0.37% year on year; the comparable energy consumption of a ton of steel decreased by 0.24% year on year; and the electricity consumption of a ton of steel increased by 1.59% year on year. The total electricity consumption of member companies decreased by 13.0% year over year. Total self-generation decreased by 3.10% year on year; the proportion of self-generated power generation was 67.31%, up 6.88 percentage points year on year. Clean energy generation declined by 12.28% year over year. Among them, wind power generation increased by 8.43% year on year; photovoltaic power generation decreased by 11.12% year on year. Member companies' water consumption decreased by 148.081,000 cubic meters year on year, down 0.18% year on year. Among them: Water intake increased by 2,0891,000 cubic meters over the same period last year, up 1.56% year on year; reuse decreased by 168.979 million cubic meters compared to the same period last year, down 0.21% year on year. The water reuse rate was 98.36%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.03 percentage points; the water intake of tons of steel was 2.68 m3/ton, an increase of 5.99% year-on-year.
