Safran Unit, Hindustan Aeronautics Partner for Helicopter Engine Development

11:43 AM EDT, 08/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- French aerospace and defense company Safran's (SAF.PA) unit Safran Helicopter Engines and India-based Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd signed a final contract with their joint venture, SAFHAL Helicopter Engines, to develop a new high-power helicopter engine. The Aravalli engine will have an output of 3,500 shaft horsepower to 4,000 shaft horsepower, according to a Wednesday release. It is expected to power HAL's Indian Multi-Role Helicopter and its naval variant, the Deck-Based Multi-Role Helicopter.
