Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Garibabadi said in an interview with Iran's state television on August 25 that Iran is still at war, that the Strait of Hormuz is under full control and surveillance by Iran's armed forces, and will not be reopened unless Iran's consent, approval, and arrangement are obtained. Garibabadi also warned that in order to protect national security and national interests, if conditions are right, Iran can take “pre-emptive” action against US targets without having to sit back and wait for the US to launch an attack before defending.
