According to Apple's official website, the newly launched M5 Ultra chip is equipped with up to 512 GB of high-bandwidth unified memory and provides a unified memory bandwidth of up to 1.2 Tb/s, which is 50% higher than the M3 Ultra. This enables users to store all massive data sets in local memory, increase the number of tokens generated per second, and run very large language models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on the device side. The M6 chip supports up to 32GB of unified memory, can simultaneously handle multiple high-load applications, and run large language models on the device to perform secure and privacy-focused AI agent tasks. Additionally, the M6 also provides a unified memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s, which is 10% higher than the M5 and 2.5 times higher than the M1.
