06:04 AM EDT, 08/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Unions representing workers at BHP Group's (BHP.L, BHG.JO) Port Hedland iron ore exporting port in Australia submitted a counterproposal on a new pay deal after the employees rejected a proposal from the mining giant, Reuters reported Tuesday. The Combined BHP Ports Unions reportedly said BHP's wage proposal would have maintained significant inequalities among employees. BHP employs more than 800 people at Port Hedland, of which half are represented by the unions. BHP did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
