The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to World Steel Association data, in July 2026, the world's crude steel production in 70 countries/regions included in the World Steel Association statistics was 149.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3%.

Crude steel production by region

In July 2026, production in Africa was 2 million tons, up 6.1% year on year. Production in Asia and Oceania was 109.4 million tons, down 1.2% year on year. The EU (27 countries) produced 10.5 million tons, up 3.8% year on year. Production in Europe and the rest of the world was 3.7 million tons, up 5.8% year on year. Production in the Middle East was 3.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.4%. Production in North America was 9.6 million tons, up 4.9% year over year. Production in Russia and other CIS countries plus Ukraine was 6.7 million tons, up 2.2% year on year. Production in South America was 3.6 million tons, up 2.8% year over year.

US production was 7.4 million tons, up 4.4% year over year. Japan's production was 6.9 million tons, up 0.4% year on year. Russia's production is expected to be 5.7 million tons, an increase of 3.3% over the previous year. South Korea's production was 5.7 million tons, up 6.4% year on year. Turkey's production was 3.4 million tons, up 7.0% year over year. Germany's production is expected to be 2.8 million tons, up 3.0% year over year. Brazil's production was 2.8 million tons, up 0.1% year over year. Vietnam's production was 2.7 million tons, up 34.7% year on year.
