On August 25, the revised draft of the Road Traffic Safety Law submitted to the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee for initial review established a special chapter on “Special Provisions on Autonomous Vehicles”, clarifying the concepts of autonomous vehicles and assisted driving functions, and clarifying that autonomous vehicles that violate road traffic safety when the autonomous driving function is activated will be dealt with by autonomous vehicle manufacturers and importers. Autonomous vehicles that do not activate the autonomous driving function and cars driving on roads with only assisted driving functions are managed in accordance with the regulations for non-autonomous vehicles.
