According to the Dianbai District Government of Maoming City, Guangdong Province, on August 23, the “Weekly Quality Report” section of the general station pointed out in a report that some turtle breeding operators in Shalang Town, Dianbai District, had problems with illegal acts such as chaotic qualification management, application of subleased breeding qualifications, trading traceability cards, private purchases of turtles without cards, and missing breeding accounts. After the broadcast of the program, a joint investigation team led by the District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau and composed of various departments such as forestry, market supervision, public security, and territorial towns and streets was set up to make every effort to carry out inspection and disposal work. In response to the issues reported in the report, the joint investigation team acted immediately on the day the program was broadcast to carry out comprehensive on-site investigations and evidence collection on a number of turtle breeding farms, family breeding workshops, and trading stores involved in the report in accordance with the law. As of the evening of August 23, a total of 96 law enforcement personnel had been dispatched from all over the district to inspect 32 turtle breeding sites. After preliminary verification, investigation procedures have been initiated against relevant business entities suspected of having committed illegal acts. Currently, 2 cases have been filed.
