BNP Paribas to Continue Appeal After Trial Court Ruling on Sudan Litigation

11:22 PM EDT, 08/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BNP Paribas (BNP.PA) will file its appeal and present its arguments before the Second Circuit following the latest trial court decision in the ongoing Sudan litigation involving the bank. The French lender said Sunday the trial court "fundamentally misconstrued Swiss law, committed numerous legal errors and sidelined highly relevant evidence," while maintaining that the transactions at the center of the litigation are allowed under Swiss and European law. The banking group added that the latest brief of the plaintiffs contained arguments that have already been rejected by both the Swiss and US governments, as well as academics, jurists and industry groups.
