The Zhitong Finance App learned that the number of pure electric vehicle registrations in Europe continued to rise in July, and electric vehicles accounted for more than a quarter of new car sales. Strong growth in France and Germany offset weak demand in other markets. According to data from E-Mobility Europe, New Automotive, and Fier Automotive, the number of pure electric vehicle (BEV) registrations in 16 major European markets increased 13.6% year-on-year to 224,266 vehicles in July, and the market share of pure electric vehicles rose to 25.7%.

Up to this year, Europe has registered nearly 1.5 million pure electric vehicles, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2025, highlighting the continued momentum of the region's electrification transformation.

The market performance of various countries is clearly divided:

France's market share of pure electric vehicles reached 35% in July, with a registered volume of 44,378 vehicles; Germany's pure electric vehicle market share rose to 29.3%, with a registration volume of 78,609 vehicles.

The Nordic and Benelux markets are still the most electrified regions in Europe, with Denmark leading the market with 80.1%, followed by Finland (52.6%), the Netherlands (47.3%), Belgium (42.8%), and Sweden (42.6%).

Italy's share of pure electric vehicles fell to 5.9% from 10.1% in June, and the previous incentives have already expired; Poland and the Czech Republic are still the least electrified markets in Europe, with shares of 4% and 7.5%, respectively.

E-Mobility Europe Secretary General Chris Heron (Chris Heron) said: “Electric vehicles are still one of Europe's most successful examples in 2026, and governments must provide stable and predictable policies to continue to share this growth dividend.”
