On August 22, Beijing time, the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and relevant Peruvian institutions formally signed an archaeological cooperation agreement in Supe, Peru, to jointly carry out archaeological research on the Caral Civilization. The Caral civilization began on the northern coast of Peru. It continued from 3000 BC to around 1800 BC. It is the earliest civilization discovered in America so far. This is the first time that a Chinese archaeological agency has officially entered South America to carry out joint archaeological work.
