The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Friday, Tesla (TSLA.US) rose more than 5% to $363.15. According to the news, according to reports, Tesla plans to open a test ride service for its first self-driving taxi Cybercab without a steering wheel and no pedals to the public at the end of this month, and officially connect to the Robotaxi autonomous taxi network in Austin, Texas, USA.

According to people familiar with the matter, the deployment will proceed in two steps: first, open the test ride experience to internal employees on public roads, wait for a few days of successful internal testing, and then incorporate Cybercab into the existing Robotaxi service fleet, which is mainly Model Y, and open to all users. However, sources also stressed that the end of August is the target time set internally, and there is still a possibility that the specific schedule will change.

The Cybercab is Tesla's two-seater model specially designed for fully autonomous driving scenarios. It was first unveiled at the “WE, ROBOT” press conference in October 2024. The car completely eliminated the steering wheel and brake pedal, and completely relied on Tesla's fully automated driving (FSD) system to operate. The Texas Department of Transportation has confirmed that the uncontrolled design complies with local regulations. Tesla CEO Elon Musk once said that the CyberCab is a model built from scratch around the FSD architecture, and it is expected to become the company's main product in the future, accounting for the vast majority of production.

In recent weeks, Tesla has been preparing intensively for the launch of Cybercab. In June of this year, the first mass-produced version of Cybercab began engineering tests on public roads in Austin; in July, the company organized test rides for employees on private roads near its headquarters to gather feedback. At the same time, Tesla has also completed special training for first responders from all over Austin, covering Cybercab accident emergency response. An Austin city government spokesperson has confirmed this training. In addition, Tesla's Robotaxi official account also recently promoted the “Cybercab Launch Campaign” on social media to encourage user attention through lottery and other forms.

At the production and software level, the Texas Gigafactory has been producing Cybercab since February of this year. Aerial images in May showed that more than 70 vehicles were parked in the factory area, an increase of 75% over the beginning of the month. In terms of software iteration, Tesla revealed to J.P. Morgan that the FSD V15 will bring significant performance improvements. About 40% of the new technology has been tested in the current Robotaxi fleet, and initial feedback is positive. Management sees this version as a key entry point for expanding unsupervised FSD services.
