Annexin Pharmaceuticals Expands Study on Retinal Vein Occlusion Drug Candidate

05:16 AM EDT, 08/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Annexin Pharmaceuticals (ANNX.ST) expanded the study of its drug candidate vanexin to include patients with retinal vein occlusion who have received the current standard-of-care treatment. The Nexus study will include patients who have received one injection of an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor, or anti-VEGF, drug, allowing the company to evaluate the safety and tolerability of vanexin when administered shortly following the standard treatment. The company said the expansion is a preparatory step toward including anti-VEGF treatment in a planned phase 2b study involving patients with macular edema.
