Duos Technologies Group stock slipped 3.3% to US$10.40 today, even though the headline numbers looked anything but weak. Q2 delivered a sharp swing into profit with basic earnings per share of US$1.61 and net income from continuing operations in the trailing twelve months of US$38.22m. The real story for you is not today’s red print on the screen. It is a freshly reshaped AI infrastructure business now reporting positive earnings and carrying a P/E of 8.5x, which sits well below the broader US software sector.
Is Duos Technologies Group trading at a genuine discount with an 8.5x P/E, or just screening as cheap because of non cash earnings and recent dilution? The bullish story says Duos Technologies Group has completed its shift into a funded AI infrastructure platform with real recurring revenue momentum, not just a one off gain. Q2 gives some backing to that view. Continuing operations revenue of US$6.18m now comes mainly from AI focused Technology Solutions at US$3.23m and higher margin infrastructure work, with a 55.8% gross margin that fits the promised mix shift. Adjusted EBITDA turned positive at about US$0.5m and operating income was slightly positive, which matters for a capital intensive build out. Bookings of roughly US$43.5m expected in 2026 and about US$25m of Technology Solutions backlog show customers committing real dollars to the edge data center plan. A cash balance of US$112.3m and minimal debt gives Duos room to keep building pods without immediately leaning on new equity.
The bear story argues that Duos is leaning on short duration asset management revenue, one off APR gains and heavy spend while racing into a new business model. Q2 results do not erase those worries. The US$47.8m net income largely comes from an about US$53.2m gain on the APR stake, not from recurring operations. Related party and Asset Management Agreement revenue of US$2.91m still carries weight, helped by US$2.71m of accelerated deferred APR revenue that will not repeat. The APR agreement ends in 2026, so that stream will roll off. Capital intensity is clear, with US$68.8m of deposits into the GPU equipment program and a US$30m Columbus acquisition that includes a US$15m seller note. The share price reaction today, down 3.26%, suggests investors are still questioning how much of the current profitability is repeatable.
