The move reflects Nvidia's efforts to expand its influence in the AI ecosystem beyond chips, including software, government relationships, and infrastructure transactions. With sufficient electricity, abundant land, and a cool climate, Northern Europe is attracting large-scale AI data center projects. Nebius, Microsoft, and others have reached deals in the region. People familiar with the matter said that Nvidia will actively approach data center companies to explore potential buyers of computing power, and often does not disclose specific customer names. The company's CFO Colette Kress said in June this year that Nvidia has participated in “matchmaking” to help customers get land, electricity, and computer rooms faster. Finland and Norway have recently announced a number of 100 megawatt projects. According to data from Norwegian grid operator Statnett, there is currently 2.3 gigawatts of data center capacity queued to be connected to the grid. Real estate agency Savills's latest report lists Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki as the top six cities in the world with potential for future data center development.
