Li Guoying pointed out that due to heavy rainfall caused by typhoon No. 13 of this year, “White Dolphin” and its remnant circulation, flood No. 1 of 2026 occurred in Taihu Lake on the 11th; the water level rose to 4.20 meters on the 14th, and a major watershed flood occurred in Taihu Lake; after careful scientific scheduling, the highest water level of this round of flooding occurred at 19:40 on the 17th, which successfully avoided major watershed floods. Currently, the overall water level in Taihu Lake is fluctuating slowly. The forecast is that it will drop to around 4.20 meters by the end of August and fall below the warning level at the end of September. The flood control situation in the Taihu Lake basin is still serious and complicated due to prolonged operation at high water levels, compounding the effects of wind and waves, increasing the risk of embankment accidents.
