We learned from the Sichuan Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Headquarters Office that from 8:00 a.m. on August 18 to 8:00 p.m. on August 19, heavy to torrential rain fell in Chengdu, Zigong and other places in Sichuan, with heavy rain in some places. The maximum rainfall was 118 mm at Shulin Station in Group 6, Shulin Village, Dongpo District, Meishan City. Heavy rainfall caused 2 geological disasters, including 1 in Jiulong County, Ganzi Prefecture, where traffic was restored; 1 in Wenchuan County, Aba Prefecture, causing National Highway 350 to be interrupted. The territorial transportation department has implemented control measures and is still carrying out clean-up operations. As of 7:00 today, a total of 21,784 safe-haven people were transferred early in 13 cities and 64 counties in Sichuan within 24 hours. So far, since the flood began, a total of 110,2694 safe havens have been transferred early in Sichuan Province.
