The Three Gorges Group reported on August 19 that as of August 8, 2026, the cumulative power generation capacity of the four 100 megawatt photothermal power plants in Anhuai, Xinye, Liaoyuan and Yizhou in the three provinces and regions of Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang has broken the 100 million kilowatt-hour mark. This achievement fully verifies the unique value of photothermal power generation as a stable and adjustable clean power source, and provides strong support for grid peak shifting and new energy consumption. According to information, the four power plants are distributed in the Gobi Desert in Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. The environment is high altitude, strong wind and sand, extreme cold and heat, and construction, operation and maintenance conditions are extremely difficult. The project uses a parallel layout of dual technology routes, and multiple energy storage models work together to build a large-scale photothermal energy storage industry matrix.
