Lin Jian said that desertification control is a great cause relating to the sustainable development of humankind. As a party to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, China earnestly fulfills its obligations under the Convention and actively promotes international cooperation to combat desertification. Adhering to the concept that green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains, China is the first in the world to achieve “zero growth” in land degradation and “double reduction” of desertified land and desertified land, making an important contribution to the global goal of zero growth in land degradation by 2030. The Convention Secretariat twice awarded China the “Outstanding Contribution Award to Combating Desertification”, praising “Desertification Control in the World: Looking at China”. China actively participates in and fully supports the United Nations in combating desertification, sharing China's experience in sand prevention and control with the world, promoting technology and training talents, and injecting strong impetus into the global South seeking green development. During this conference, China will set up a “China Corner” to host an exhibition on the theme of desertification control in China. A number of side events will also be held to exchange ideas, techniques and practices for desertification prevention and control with all parties. Facing the future, China will continue to work to provide the “China Plan” for global desertification control, deepen ecological and environmental cooperation with all parties, further promote the Convention process, and work together to create more “desert oases” development miracles.
