On August 17, the State Defense General Office and the Ministry of Emergency Management continued to organize joint meetings with the China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Housing, Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Transport and other departments, as well as key provinces such as Sichuan, Henan, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, to investigate recent trends in heavy rainfall and deploy flood control work. The State General Administration of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Management maintained a three-level emergency response for flood control in Jiangsu and a four-level emergency response for flood control in Henan, Zhejiang, and Anhui. The task force dispatched earlier continued to assist and guide flood relief and rescue work on the frontline in the Taihu Lake region of Jiangsu. The 13 drainage teams initially dispatched by the Ministry of Emergency Management continued to carry out drainage operations in Zhoukou, Henan.
