02:20 AM EDT, 08/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Drugmaker AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) said Monday that its combination treatment of Tagrisso plus Orpathys significantly improved progression-free and overall survival in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor-mutated non-small cell lung cancer in a phase 3 trial. Results from the randomized, open-label, and multi-centre Saffron study showed that the treatment significantly improved survival compared with doublet platinum-based chemotherapy. The trial enrolled 338 patients across 29 countries. Orpathys is being jointly developed by AstraZeneca and Hutchmed (HCM.L) and commercialized by AstraZeneca.
